The Department of Education Leadership, Foundations, and Policy in the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia (UVa) seeks scholars to fill an open rank tenure track or tenured position in education policy. Rank is contingent upon qualifications. The search is open to scholars with interests across the PK-16 continuum who share a commitment to applied quantitative research that is directly relevant to policy and practice and who are interested in working in a highly interdisciplinary environment.
This search is part of a multi-year initiative at the University of Virginia focused on educational research with implications for public policy. UVa seeks to build on the strong foundation and collaboration in education policy that exists across the Curry School, the Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy and the Economics Department in the College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. The Curry School offers a range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs including a PhD in Education Policy. The Curry School and the Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy co-host EdPolicyWorks, a vibrant research center that provides a home for faculty and Ph.D. students from across the University interested in education policy.
A doctoral degree in a relevant discipline is required by the start date of the appointment. An explicit commitment to excellence in teaching that contributes to diversity and of advancing understanding and outcomes for underrepresented groups is essential. A demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with others on inter-disciplinary, evidence-based research projects is also required. Preference will be given to applicants with experience advising and mentoring doctoral students and overseeing doctoral student research.
For appointment as an associate or full professor applicants must have:
- an outstanding record of scholarly publication and an established line of funded research in education policy
- an explicit commitment to, and accomplishments in, teaching, research, and/or service that contributes to diversity and of advancing understanding and outcomes for underrepresented groups
For appointment as an assistant professor applicants must have the potential for:
- an outstanding record of scholarly publication and an established line of funded research in education policy.
