Assistant/Associate Professor of Higher Education - Vanderbilt University

The Department of Leadership, Policy, and Organizations (LPO) at Peabody College of Education and Human Development at Vanderbilt University invites applications for a tenuretrack Assistant or tenured Associate Professor of Higher Education. We seek a scholar trained in either higher education or the social science disciplines (with a preference for sociology or political science) whose research examines contemporary issues concerning postsecondary education in the United States. Candidates should possess an exemplary record of scholarly accomplishment and a demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues commensurate with the rank of an advanced assistant or tenured associate professor. Evidence of excellent classroom instruction is required for consideration; the capacity to attract external funding is strongly preferred. The faculty member will join the Higher Education Administration Program and teach classes in the master’s, EdD, and PhD programs, as well as in the undergraduate Human and Organizational Development major.

The mission of LPO is to understand and improve the political, economic, organizational, and social contexts in which human learning takes place. The department embraces a range of disciplinary traditions and encourages multiple methodological approaches in the study of education policy and practice. LPO operates programs and degrees at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral level, including professional master’s degree programs; an on-campus EdD program in K–12 and in higher education leadership and policy; an online EdD in leadership and learning in organizations; a PhD program in K–12 and in higher education leadership and policy; and an undergraduate degree in Human and Organizational Development.
