Research Associate, City Connects

City Connects is an innovative and evidence-based approach to addressing the out-of-school factors that can impact students’ achievement and thriving in schools. Currently implemented in over 90 schools across six states, this comprehensive intervention collaborates closely with districts, schools, and partnering community agencies to connect every student to a tailored set of supports and enrichments in the school and community. City Connects, housed at the Center for Optimized Student Support at Boston College, seeks a full-time Research Associate to join its evaluation team. The Research Associate will play a role in planning research activities, statistical analysis, data organization and maintenance, and reporting results. The position involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary research team.

The responsibilities of the Research Associate are to:

  • Contribute to planning for evaluation and research projects, including establishing goals and timelines
  • Conduct statistical analyses for evaluation and educational research
  • Contribute to maintenance of large data files and development of analytic data sets, including implementing data quality control procedures
  • Produce detailed written documentation and annotation for analyses and data management
  • Produce periodic summaries and reports for various audiences, including academic audiences and school personnel
  • Required:

  • Master’s degree in the field of statistics, educational research, economics, or related field
  • Proficiency in using SPSS, STATA, R, or similar statistical software
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Desired

  • Professional experience in statistics and/or educational research
  • Experience in programming and documentation for data management
  • Experience collaborating with a research team
  • Experience in project management
