Senior Research Associate at USC

This posting is for a full-time Senior Research Associate staff position at the University of Southern California Center for Economic and Social Research. We are searching for candidates with interest in education research, evaluation of education programs, and innovative approaches to curriculum and instruction. Primary responsibilities for this role on a two-year randomized control trial evaluation of a project-based learning intervention include: project management; qualitative data collection; qualitative analysis; and writing. The successful candidate must be self-driven with: excellent communication, collaboration, leadership, and project management skills; strong qualitative data collection, analysis and writing skills; scrupulous attention to detail; ability to communicate clearly and confidently with teachers, district administrators, parents and students; and creative problem solving. The ideal candidate has education content background in inquiry-based curriculum, instruction and professional development. The successful candidate will support senior researchers in various capacities including: coordinating and managing data collection; administrating telephone interviews; analyzing qualitative data and summarizing findings; synthesizing artifacts to write descriptions of curriculum and professional development models; managing school district research applications; and miscellaneous project management tasks. Travel requirements are fairly limited and will likely include 2-3 trips annually. The position is available for immediate start and concludes in May, 2018. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. (or be ABD) in a social science field, such as education, psychology, political science, sociology, human development, etc. ABD candidates with a completed master’s degree will also be considered, however coursework must include substantial training in qualitative research methods. Relocation to Los Angeles preferred though remote candidates may be considered depending on qualifications.
