The Research Analyst will work on multiple projects with Principal Investigator (PI) Matt Kraft. The job entails close collaboration with Professor Kraft and his team on research in the economics of education and education policy. Examples of past research topics include teacher evaluation and professional growth, teacher-parent communication, school working conditions, students’ social and emotional skills, and district hiring practices. The Tennessee Education Research Alliance (TERA) invites applications for a two year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Research on Education Policy and Practice. The postdoctoral fellowship is a training opportunity aimed at building research design, analysis, and implementation skills through the study of school turnaround, educator labor markets, early literacy, and educators’ professional learning. There also are opportunities for fellows to pursue research outside these areas of focus. The centerpiece of the fellowship is the opportunity for sustained participation in a research-policy-practice partnership aimed at informing education policy and practice decisions in Tennessee. Potential candidates for the postdoctoral program are Ph.D graduates with an interest in becoming independent researchers who focus on education policy in academic or professional research organizations.

The Tennessee Education Research Alliance (TERA) is a research-policy-practice partnership between the Tennessee Department of Education and Peabody College at Vanderbilt University. TERA conducts research on questions of greatest urgency to the state and ensures that actionable findings are brought to the attention of policymakers and practitioners to whom they are important. The Research Associate will be a critical member of the TERA team and will lead work in one of the four TERA research strands as well as serve as the primary data manager for TERA’s extensive longitudinal data sets. Applicants will need to have strong independent research experience, advanced data management experience, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a desire to create products that bridge the gap between research and practice. Research Associates will lead data collection, management, governance, and cleaning for longitudinal administrative data sets. Additionally, they will manage graduate students work with data collection, cleaning, and governance, as well as prepare and publish original research, research syntheses, policy briefs, and other products as needed. They will independently carry out and design highly sophisticated and independent experiments and research projects, and report to the Executive Director and work in partnership with the Faculty Director to create key research products.

The Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia is seeking applicants for full-time, 12-month salaried non-tenure track Research Assistant Professor of Education positions in the Department of Educational Leadership, Foundations and Policy with an affiliation in EdPolicyWorks. Incumbents conduct high quality research and produce scholarship that aligns with the mission of EdPolicyWorks. The center seeks to bring together researchers from across the University of Virginia and the State to focus on important questions of educational policy and the competitiveness of labor in an era of globalization. The Education Policy Program is seeking an experienced education policy researcher who can work collaboratively on a variety of quantitative research projects. These projects include the conceptualization of study designs and methodologies, statistical analysis, and policy analysis. We are seeking individuals who possess a strong public policy background, quantitative analysis skills, and a thorough understanding of education issues at the PK-12 and/or postsecondary levels. We are particularly interested in candidates whose work spans multiple components of the educational system and/or examines the intersections between education and related policy areas such as criminal justice, housing, and health. The ideal candidate will also have a strong record of involvement in project management and the development of proposals for external funding.

California State University, Dominquez Hills is seeking an experienced professional to serve as the Associate Vice President for Finance

The Department of Public Administration and Policy (DPAP) in the School of Public Affairs at American University invites applications for a full-time, postdoctoral fellow at the rank of Professorial Lecturer beginning August 1, 2018 and ending August 31, 2019. The Director of the Undergraduate Business Minor serves as the chief administrator and spokesperson for the Undergraduate Business Minor program of Vanderbilt University. The Director is charged with working with the four undergraduate schools (College of Arts and Science, Blair School of Music, School of Engineering, and Peabody College) and Owen Graduate School of Management to ensure the operational, curricular, and co-curricular success of the minor. With the support of the Business Minor Governing Board, the Director will monitor the quality and variety of course offerings in an effort to ensure that elective courses provide a rich variety of supplemental educational opportunities that enhance the core curriculum. We are particularly interested in scholars with an interest in quantitative analysis of policies to improve access to and quality of early childhood interventions in low-income communities, interventions leveraging behavioral insights intended to modify the context in which learning occurs at scale, and the effects of interventions or policies to improve teacher effectiveness.
