The Tennessee Education Research Alliance (TERA) is a research-practice partnership between the Tennessee Department of Education and Peabody College at Vanderbilt University. Powered by a top quality longitudinal data set and a commitment with the state to explore key questions of state policy and practice, TERA is poised to be a national leader in practice focused research. The Tennessee Education Research Alliance represents one of only a few attempts to create a rigorous research consortium aimed squarely at influencing state education policy and practice, a role that becomes ever more important in the current context where states play an increasingly large role in education governance.

The University of Southern California Rossier School of Education is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to pursue research focusing on the adoption, use, and impact of textbooks and other curriculum materials in mathematics, science, and English Language Arts in the five largest U.S. states (with opportunities for other subjects depending on state). This project is led by USC researcher Morgan Polikoff, Associate Professor of K-12 education policy.
We seek a post-doctoral fellow to further the research and development work of the initiative. This fellowship will provide opportunities for a junior researcher to contribute to the project’s goals while developing a range of research skills. The interdisciplinary initiative bridges education policy, educational psychology, and mathematics education. The fellow will participate in all project activities, including conducting reviews of literature, participating in the symposium, building research partnerships, and conducting design-based research projects. The fellow would also have time for independent and collaborative research. We are open as to methodological orientation but expect that the work we conduct will be mixed-methods.
