AEFP Student Board Member

Are you a doctoral student looking to get more involved with AEFP? Apply to be a student board member today!

In June of 2024, the board voted to add an appointed student representative to the board. The Bylaws establish the terms (one-year renewable appointment, identified through an application process run by the Nominations committee, with final selection made by vote of the Executive Committee). The board approved the addition of the student representative with the understanding that AEFP would provide financial support for the student representative to attend the summer board meeting and, if needed, in-person board meetings around the annual conference.

Roles and responsibilities:
  • The student member is expected to represent the interests of the doctoral student community to the wider AEFP board.
  • The student member of the board is expected to serve as a liaison to the doctoral student Community Group.
  • The Executive Committee/Nominations Chair will appoint a second- or third-year board member to serve as a mentor for the student representative.
  • The Nominations Committee and Executive Committee will consider professional accomplishments, ability to represent the broader AEFP community, and demonstrated commitment to AEFP in selecting the student member of the board. Commitment to AEFP can be demonstrated in a variety of ways.
