Postdoctoral Training Program in Quantitative Methods for Education Policy Research - Education Policy Postdoctoral Research Fellow 2021 – 2023
The Education Policy Initiative seeks candidates interested in deepening their knowledge of rigorous, appliedquantitative education policy research for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship.
Fellows will be trained to estimate the causal effects of education policies and practices on studentoutcomes, emphasizing the use of state and district longitudinal data. Fellows will participate in all aspects ofthe research process, including design, IRB administration, analysis, and presentation. They will collect,compile and analyze data; design surveys; participate in research planning; write papers; present results atseminars and professional meetings; and supervise research assistants. The fellows will learn how to developa research partnership with practitioners or public agencies and to communicate results to non-technicalaudiences, including policymakers. The fellows will also have the opportunity to develop and lead neweducation research projects.
Fellows should expect to devote about a third of their time to working with UM faculty to build new researchcollaborations and projects at the university, a third of their time to existing EPI research projects andproducts that support the center, and the remaining third of their time on their independent research.The fellows will receive close mentorship from professors Brian Jacob, Kevin Stange and Christina Weilandand will have the opportunity to work with cross-disciplinary UM faculty, such as Stephen DesJardins, JohnBound, Mathew Ronfeldt, and Fabian Pfeffer.

This is a 2-year fellowship beginning in the summer of 2021 with competitive salary and benefits plus fundsfor research expenses and related travel. Funding for the fellowships is provided by the Institute of EducationSciences postdoctoral training grant R305B170015.
Applicants must have completed their PhD in a relevant social science discipline prior to August 31, 2021 andhave academic research experience in public policy, economics, education, quantitative methodology, orother similar fields.
