Based in Washington, DC and available immediately, the Senior Analyst, P-12 Data Analytics will report to the Associate Director for P-12 Analytics and serve as a member of the P-12 division. This role is an exciting opportunity for passionate advocates of educational equity who have a deep love for research and data. You will get to flex your research and data analytics skills to inform and advocate for policies that expand access to excellent educational opportunities for students of color and students from low-income backgrounds. This often involves the important work of translating and communicating complex, nuanced data analyses and research findings to diverse audiences. Research and data expertise is a must; experience with K-12 state-level school funding policy is a plus.

The Senior Analyst, P-12 Data Analytics will be responsible for:
- Analysis and Recommendations : Develop and conduct research projects and data or policy analyses, and contribute to the development of recommendations for federal and state policy
- Sharing Findings and Recommendations : Develop materials (e.g., reports, briefs, presentations, etc.) to advance our policy agenda. Represent Ed Trust publicly with various audiences, including advocates, policymakers, educators and journalists
- Content knowledge : Develop a breadth of content knowledge across our organization’s priority areas
- Relationships : Build and cultivate relationships internally and with external partners to expand efforts aimed at improving student outcomes and eliminating disparities in opportunity to learn
- Project management : Develop, manage, and execute projects designed to identify and elevate promising practices for advancing education equity; this may include providing support in fundraising and grant management
- Teamwork : Give, receive, and act upon critical feedback to improve knowledge, skills, presentations, and relationship building; contribute to an equitable working environment
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will pos sess the following qualifications and experience:
- Belief in the Education Trust’s mission and a commitment to improving educational equity
- At least a master’s degree in education, psychology, public policy/administration, or a related field and 3 – 5 years of experience conducting research and data analyses, including using large education data sets (particularly federal data) to support policy development
- Experience with elementary/secondary education policy, with a preference for experience in K-12 state-level school funding policy
- Demonstrated proficiency with statistical software (e.g., R or Stata) and excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including formulas and pivot tables)
- Demonstrated proficiency with qualitative analysis and related software (e.g., Dedoose or nVivo )
- Knowledge of research methodology, evaluation, and statistics to be able to design and conduct research projects and understand and interpret the validity and significance of findings
