Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy

The University of Florida College of Education invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy in the School of Human Development and Organizational Studies in Education. The Educational Leadership and Policy program is committed to furthering research that improves educational outcomes through innovative policy and dynamic leadership. The Educational Leadership and Policy program includes PhD, EdD, EdS, and MEd degree programs as well as a graduate concentration in education policy.

Through this search, we seek a colleague who will contribute to the goals of the program area through exemplary research, teaching, mentoring, and service. The successful candidate will demonstrate an emerging research agenda related to education policy and leadership that demonstrates the potential to successfully compete for external funding. The ideal candidate will have evidence of excellent research skills, a focused research agenda, and a demonstrated commitment to meeting the needs of all learners and communities. We are open to scholarship in a broad range of topics in educational policy and leadership, especially candidates whose research utilizes or focuses on emerging technologies in schools, education for social advancement, school choice, or comparative education. Relevant experience in P-12 schools is also desirable.  

The University of Florida’s Educational Leadership and Policy program is nationally ranked and includes one of the top ranked online master’s in educational leadership degrees. The successful candidate will join a dynamic faculty whose research and teaching are nationally renowned. The candidate will have opportunities to contribute to teaching and advising in our PhD program, online EdD program, and both on-campus and online master’s programs and will have opportunities to affiliate with campus partners including UF’s Education Policy Research Center (www.ufedpolicy.org) and the Early Childhood Policy Centers Collaborative. More information on UF’s Educational Leadership and Policy program can be found at: https://education.ufl.edu/educational-leadership/

This 9-month tenure-accruing faculty appointment will begin August 2024. Salary is negotiable, competitive, and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Requirements Required Qualifications
  • An earned doctorate in education, public policy, economics, sociology, or a closely related field awarded by the time of hire
  • A record of publication or evidence of potential for successful publication in leading education, educational policy, and leadership journals
  • Demonstration of promise to successfully acquire external funding for research
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in P-12 school settings (or equivalent)
  • Record of teaching experience in higher education in the areas of educational policy or educational leadership, or closely related subject area.
  • Evidence of commitment to collaboration with faculty, students, and school-based personnel
  • Teaching, research, and/or service experiences with students from a wide range of backgrounds
  • Ability to contribute to the national visibility of the Educational Leadership and Policy program
