Assistant Professor, Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Analysis

The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at the University of Missouri is pleased to announce an assistant level professor (tenure-track) position in the field of PK-12 education beginning in the Fall 2023 semester. We seek a colleague who can help us expand our commitment to PK-12 education, with a preferred scholarly focus on educational leadership, administration, and/or organizations, as well as preferred expertise in quantitative research methods. This position offers opportunities to contribute to the programs in PK-12 (MEd, PhD, EdS, and Global Education and Leadership Graduate Certificate) as well as the Doctorate in Educational Leadership (EdD) and Bachelor of Educational Studies (BES) programs.

The Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Analysis (ELPA) has a strong commitment to promoting environments that affirm the values and benefits of diversity, social justice, and cultural and global competence. The mission of ELPA is to create knowledge while preparing leaders to critically shape and transform issues, policies, and practices. To advance our mission, we educate leaders and lead educators in higher education, PK-12 schools, and other policy settings.

The successful applicant will maintain an active research program and demonstrate effectiveness in teaching (online and in-person). The applicant will also mentor and advise students in the PK-12 education programs and serve on dissertation committees. Qualifications include an earned doctorate at the time of employment with a specialization in Educational Leadership and/or Policy, or closely related field, and a strong record of scholarly research.

Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Qualifications include an earned doctorate in Educational Leadership and/or Policy, or a related field, by time of appointment.

Candidates will be evaluated on the following factors:

Ability to develop and sustain an independent program of scholarly research with a preferred focus on PK-12 education
A strong record of using suitable research designs and methods effectively to answer critical and meaningful questions
Evidence of strong potential for securing external research funding
Experience (or potential to be successful) teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate/graduate students
Experience (or potential to be successful) working collegially with individuals from diverse backgrounds and contributing to inclusion, diversity, and equity initiatives within the Department and University.
