Department Head – Department of Educational Leadership, Policy, and Human Development
The Department of Educational Leadership, Policy, and Human Development with more than 850
students and 44 full-time faculty members, offers graduate programs in Adult, Workforce and Continuing Professional Education Counselor Education; Educational Leadership; Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis; and Higher Education. The Department emphasizes exemplary scholarship, teaching, and service in the context of a university education and has a vibrant research culture that inspires and guides students through teaching, advising, and dissertation supervision. As researchers and teachers, the faculty explore complex and pressing contemporary issues and problems facing education and society with a view toward solutions that will make a real, positive difference for students and higher education institutions.

Position Details
The Head is responsible for the administration of the department and provides leadership to enhance the quality and impact of faculty research, teaching, and service efforts. He or she recruits, recommends, hires, and supervises faculty and departmental staff, and manages departmental budgets.

The Head promotes the department through representation in college, university, and external strategic initiatives. The Department Head may also engage in research, teaching, publication, externally funded projects, and other professional activities.

Requirements Required Qualifications
Candidates should possess a doctorate in counselor education, educational leadership, policy studies, higher education, adult and community college education, or a closely related discipline or field; have a demonstrated success in significant leadership roles and/or university administration and working with diverse groups, team building, and fostering partnerships; a distinguished record of scholarship sufficient for appointment as a full professor in the department; and a demonstrated commitment to anti-racism, diversity, social justice, and collaboration.

Note: This position requires an on campus presence to effectively perform the essential duties of the position. As such, employees must reside within a commutable distance and must report to campus regularly to perform certain work-related tasks as a condition of employment.
