Professor and Mike Moses Endowed Chair in Educational Leadership
The Department of Teacher Education and Administration (TE&A) in the College of Education at The University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for the Mike Moses Endowed Chair in Educational Leadership, beginning in the Fall 2023. This is an appointment at the rank of Full Professor with tenure in the Educational Leadership (EDLE) program. The successful candidate will join Educational Leadership faculty who interact with undergraduate, master's, and doctoral-level students and support their efforts to become educational leaders, educational policymakers, and academic researchers in both areas. The EDLE program includes a dynamic and nationally recognized Master of Education program (with the opportunity to obtain the Texas principal as instructional leadership certification); Doctoral of Education program (with the opportunity to obtain a Texas superintendent certification); and Doctor of Philosophy program. Of particular interest to the College of Education are candidates who are committed to improving people's lives through powerful learning, social-emotional wellness, physical health, civic engagement, and who have a record demonstrating commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice.

Requirements Position Summary

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research program of national and international significance, to secure external funding to support research, to mentor graduate students and junior faculty, to be a leading faculty member among the program faculty, to cultivate relationships with leaders in partner districts and schools, and to collaborate with faculty and external agencies to achieve the goals of the Department, College, and the University. The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher of masters and doctoral courses (offered at the UNT campus and other off-site locations and online), serve with high standards as chair and a member of doctoral dissertation committees, and contribute service to the Department, College, University, community constituencies, and professional organizations. Summer teaching is contingent on student demand and funding.

Minimum Qualifications

(1) Earned doctorate with emphasis in Educational Leadership, Educational Policy (or a related field); (2) Research, teaching, and/or leadership experience with culturally and/or linguistically diverse populations; (3) Excellence in university teaching experience; (4) Evidence of a nationally recognized research agenda and a publication record commensurate with rank; (5) Evidence of successful grant procurement; (6) Evidence of chairing of doctoral dissertations; (7) Evidence of successful experience in faculty leadership at the department, college, and university levels as well as with professional organizations. Finalists will be selected from among candidates who meet UNT's criteria for tenure at the full professor level.

Preferred Qualifications

(1) Experience in EC-16 education and educational leadership and/or educational systems that serve Communities of Color similar to those found in Texas; (2) Research agenda focused on topics of contemporary urgency; and (3) Research agenda that focuses on and with Communities of Color like those found in Texas.
